More than 500 famous and high-quality agricultural products from Nantong are leading the way to Shanghai, enjoying their delicious taste to the fullest
On September 21, the 2023 Nantong Famous Agricultural Products Shanghai Exhibition opened at Haoyuan Life Square in Baoshan District, Shanghai. The Nantong Supply and Marketing Cooperative Society brought 40 agricultural enterprises and more than 500 famous and excellent agricultural products out of the village and into the city, further enriching the "vegetable baskets", "rice bags", and "fruit plates" of Shanghai citizens for the Mid Autumn Festival National Day holiday. The exhibition included crystal clear and soft Haian rice, green and fragrant Qihai Siqing, Haimen lamb with all colors and aromas, tender and delicious Lusi seafood, seasonal autumn pears, and the plant "bird's nest" and "golden ear fresh stew.
Nantong is geographically close and closely related to Shanghai, and is the only northern wing city of the Yangtze River Delta in the Shanghai "1+8" metropolitan area. It is also the orchard, vegetable garden, and backyard of Shanghai citizens. Nantong has 15 vegetable production bases outside Shanghai and 15 main vegetable supply bases outside Shanghai, with a cumulative area of over 40000 acres and a daily supply of 5000 tons of vegetables to Shanghai; 50% of agricultural enterprises in Nantong have cooperative relationships with Shanghai, and 40% of agricultural and sideline products are supplied to Shanghai.

"The supply and marketing advantages of agricultural products in Shanghai and Nantong are highly complementary, with broad market prospects and huge potential for cooperation." Ma Chenhui, Deputy Director of the Council of the Shanghai Supply and Marketing Cooperative Society, said that Shanghai is a populous city with a huge market and consumption capacity for agricultural products. Nearly 20% of the agricultural and sideline products in the Shanghai market come from Nantong.
This event is the fifth consecutive trade fair held by Nantong in Shanghai. Compared with previous years, this year, Nantong has brought the most representative and distinctive agricultural products, with a significant increase in both types and quantities. There are not only Hai'an rice, Rudong Langshan chicken, Haimen goat meat, Lvsi jellyfish and other national geographical indication protection products and national and provincial gold medal products, but also Chaogao Cake, Xinzhong Fermented bean curd and other time-honored Chinese products and green food such as Rugao radish peel, crab yellow croaker round, Yuan oatmeal. "We have carefully selected 40 exhibiting enterprises and over 500 famous and high-quality agricultural products for a one-stop exhibition and sales, helping to seamlessly connect production and sales, and allowing Shanghai citizens to fully enjoy the good taste of Nantong," said Chen Jianfeng, Director of the Council of Nantong Supply and Marketing Cooperative Society.

The unique natural ecology of Nantong has nurtured extremely charming cuisine, and Shanghai residents have a great love for agricultural and sideline products such as Nantong organic vegetables, Langshan chicken, and local seafood. A new farmer entrepreneurship team composed of "80s," "90s," and "00s" in Haimen, Nantong, has developed a fresh stewed product of golden ear based on the "mushroom bird's nest" golden ear, attracting buyers to queue up.
During the event, the Nantong e-commerce anchor also transformed into a "hometown good product recommendation officer", promoting various agricultural products through live streaming. This event is jointly organized by Nantong Supply and Marketing Cooperative Society, Shanghai Supply and Marketing Cooperative Society, and Nantong Press Media Group, with a duration of three and a half days. During the event, a series of activities will be carried out, including production and sales coordination, live streaming sales promotion, discounted sales, and free tasting.
