On the afternoon of September 12, 2023, the highly anticipated Chinese first large-scale cruise ship "Aida Modu" docked steadily at Pier 4 of Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Shipbuilding Corporation, under the traction of multiple tugboats. 1339 technical personnel participated in the sea trial, waving the national flag and descending the spiral staircase one by one. The dock was filled with excitement, and excited people couldn't help but embrace and celebrate.
China Shipbuilding Corporation solemnly declares that after six days and five nights of sea navigation at 1630 nautical miles, the cruise ship has completed all verification projects for the trial voyage and meets the operating conditions.
At around 1 pm, China's first large-scale cruise ship "Aida Modu", which had completed its second trial voyage, docked at Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Terminal 4.
On the noon of September 7th, the "Aida Modu" detached from the Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Terminal to carry out a sea completion test mission. On the early morning of September 8th, one of the key testing projects, the "light oil to heavy oil conversion" test of the main engine, passed the acceptance test and successfully kicked off the sea trial.
In order to ensure the safe, orderly, and efficient conduct of the test voyage, the completion test working group of the "Aida Modu" played a unique command center role. Every morning and evening, a coordination meeting for the sea trial project plan is organized, which brings together relevant responsible persons and experts from shipowners, ship inspectors, contractors, service providers, etc. to inspect and coordinate the project acceptance and plan implementation on the same day and the next day. Problems are solved on the spot without delay or procrastination, greatly improving the efficiency of the sea trial work, demonstrating the professionalism, professionalism, and dedication of the sea trial team, and also inspiring the strong fighting spirit and courage of the test participants to overcome difficulties.
Under the joint efforts of the leading command of the sea trial working group and the sea trial team, projects such as speed testing, durability testing, unmanned cockpit testing, automated smart grid function testing, general broadcasting alarm sound pressure testing, and magnetic compass calibration were carried out in a synchronous or cross orderly manner, and one project after another successfully passed acceptance. In the driver's cab, central control room, and project testing site, bursts of enthusiastic applause and high decibel cheers are occasionally heard to celebrate every hard won success.
In a short period of six days and five nights, the trial team strictly followed the trial plan and carried out various test verification work. A total of 88 test projects were completed, involving 31 debugging programs, comprehensively verifying the ship's maneuverability, automation level, navigation safety and comfort, and related emission indicators. The test results show that the performance indicators of China's first large-scale cruise ship "Aida Modu" comply with relevant regulations and specifications, meet the requirements of the contract and technical specifications, and have all been confirmed by the shipowner and classification society. The completed trial voyage has been successfully completed. This means that the "Aida Modu" has met the navigation conditions, laying a solid foundation for naming and delivering for operation by the end of the year.
1339 crew members participating in the sea trial disembarked one after another, waiting at the dock for cheers and celebrations.
After completing the sea trial, it was announced that all indicators of the large cruise ship had met the standards. The staff felt relieved and embraced to celebrate, taking a group photo as a souvenir.
In the next three months, the cruise ship will need to prepare the shipowner's supplies, crew team entry, system handover, and final decoration and cleaning of some interior. It is expected to complete the naming and delivery to the shipowner during the November China International Import Expo. The validation voyage will begin at the cruise terminal in Baoshan at the end of this year, making final preparations for next year's maiden voyage.
The large cruise ship that has completed the trial voyage has reached the delivery status and will be named and delivered before the end of the year. It will be put into commercial operation next year.
