On the morning of September 10th, the unveiling ceremony of the new campus of Kashgar Experimental Middle School affiliated with Shanghai Normal University and the opening ceremony of the new semester were grandly held.
The school is supported by Shanghai's counterpart for construction. At the beginning of the new semester, the school has undergone three major changes. One is that the school address has changed. The newly completed Dongcheng campus of the school covers an area of 268 acres. The second is that the school name has changed. The old name of the school is Kashgar No.6 Middle School. In April 2019, Kashgar No.6 Middle School added the school logo of Shanghai Normal University Affiliated Middle School. This time, the school officially opened and was renamed as Shanghai Normal University Affiliated Kashgar Experimental Middle School. Thirdly, the scope of enrollment has changed. The school has officially started admitting junior high school students, with the first batch admitting a total of 100 students from two classes.

In March 2020, in order to cooperate with the development plan of the eastern new area of Kashgar and leverage the support of Shanghai's aid to Xinjiang, expand educational resources, and improve educational quality, the Kashgar Municipal Committee decided to launch the work of school relocation. In February 2022, the project officially started construction. The new campus, from planning to design, to final completion and operation, has been continuously supported by two batches of Shanghai aid cadres and three batches of Shanghai teacher teams in a group style aid to Xinjiang, working one after another.
The new campus is designed by a design unit dispatched by Shanghai, and the construction management unit in Shanghai supervises the entire process. In terms of the entire design and construction concept, it not only reflects the characteristics of southern Xinjiang, but also reflects Shanghai's taste and future style.
The school covers a wide area and has a large building volume. After the initial completion of the new campus, Shanghai Xinjiang aid teachers exclaimed, "Such a large campus is enough for a university." At the same time, the school's architectural style is quite distinctive of the Shanghai style, with most local buildings having flat roofs and an overall color tone of earthy yellow. The school entrance of the new campus has been designed with eaves, and the teaching building adopts the brick red color of Shikumen.

The design of the new campus also considers the future development of the school. For example, there are a total of 6 classrooms on each floor of the teaching building, with the middle two classrooms specifically reserved for use as reading rooms and temporary classrooms for club activities. During breaks, students can enter and read, which aligns with the concept of "reading around them". The club activity space meets the personalized development needs of students. In addition, the school features football, and in addition to a standardized playground, the school has also specially built a small sports field as a football training ground.

After the completion of the new campus, the feelings of local students and teachers became more direct. A teacher said, "Previously, the classroom was very hot and could be exposed to sunlight for a long time. After finishing a class, the teachers were mostly soaked through. Now, the corridor outside the classroom is wide and the overall structure is concave, avoiding direct sunlight and making the classroom much cooler." Another teacher showed the reporter the tool storage room in the classroom. "The design of the storage room drew inspiration from the experience of advanced middle schools in the Yangtze River Delta. In winter in Xinjiang, there is a lot of snow, and it is used to place snow cleaning tools, which is clean and tidy."
The students excitedly discussed the new dormitory. "In the past, there was only one bathroom on each floor, and to take a shower, one had to carry a washbasin to another building. Now, every dormitory has a bathroom, and each floor has a shower room." They also liked the novel equipment of the new classroom. "Writing on the blackboard with chalk will no longer make a harsh sound, and the blackboard at the back of the classroom has been changed to a sticky board, making it more interesting to post on the blackboard."
