Zelensky makes an appeal to South Korea
According to Yonhap News Agency on September 16th, South Korean officials stated on the 16th that Ukrainian President Zelensky hopes to cooperate with South Korea in nuclear energy, resource development, and defense industry as part of the country's reconstruction efforts.
The report states that a South Korean delegation consisting of government officials and business representatives visited Kiev this week to discuss potential reconstruction projects that South Korea may participate in. These projects are estimated to be worth approximately 1200 trillion Korean won. The delegation returned to South Korea on the morning of the 16th.
According to the report, the delegation stated that Zelensky called for cooperation in the field of nuclear energy during his meeting with them on the 13th. He is particularly interested in South Korea's expertise in atomic energy technology.
They said that Zelensky also expressed hope that South Korea will provide assistance in the development and expansion of solar power generation technology and refining facilities.
The report also stated that a member of the delegation said, "President Zelensky seems to envision Ukraine and South Korea establishing a partnership in the energy sector, with a focus on the EU market."
Zelensky also proposed cooperation in lithium mining, as the eastern region of Ukraine has a large number of lithium mines. Lithium is an important raw material for producing green batteries.
