Night schools were once the fashion trend of the previous generation of young people, representing a beautiful memory of youth in an era. In 2016, Shanghai innovated and established a citizen art night school, which was well received by the 80s and 90s generations and has been on the trending list multiple times. Afterwards, the Citizen Art Night School became the first practical project for the people in Shanghai since the establishment of the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism. As an important component of the "Social Art Education Plan", the Citizen Art Night School mainly adopts a delayed opening and public welfare fee model, providing cultural and artistic popularization courses for young and middle-aged people aged 18-55 in the evening, further enhancing the artistic and humanistic literacy of citizens, enhancing their aesthetic ability, and deepening the "Citizen Art Education Action".
In response to the public's call, in the autumn of 2021, the Citizen Art Night School arrived in Pudong for the first time. It has rapidly developed from 4 branches or teaching points and 10 courses in 2021 to 16 branches or teaching points and 57 courses in the autumn class this year, with a teaching population of over 1400 people.
