What is the story behind the Asian Games emblem that is hard to find? Trendy News Interview with Designers
Did you change the countdown commemorative badge for the Asian Games, the West Lake Ten Scenic Spots badge, and the traditional Chinese festival series badge today?
With the approach of the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, various themed badges have become a hot topic around the Asian Games, and exchanging badges has become a trend. A small Asian Games emblem not only embodies the spirit of the Asian Games and promotes sports culture, but also carries the charm of urban culture and historical heritage. How to draw inspiration from excellent traditional culture and integrate with modern civilization also tests the skills of badge designers. U0026nbsp;
The team led by Yu Pengcheng, a licensed commodity designer for the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, has been planning and designing over 200 badges for the Games since 3 years ago. Through exquisite badges, these post-90s designers have also added excitement and vitality to the Asian Games in their own way.

Not a single drop in humanistic traditions
Entering the product display area of the company where Yu Pengcheng is located, a dazzling array of licensed products catches your eye. Yu Pengcheng and his team have designed over 400 licensed products for the Asian Games, with badges being one of the major features. "We prepared a big plan from the beginning, which included a series of basic event badges, Hangzhou culture series, Chinese traditional culture series, and so on."
Creation cannot rely solely on wild imagination, and on-site investigation has become an essential part of the design process. When designing the Ten Scenic Emblems of West Lake, in order to showcase the true appearance of West Lake to the greatest extent possible, Yu Pengcheng and the design team ran around West Lake for two months. When the finished product was released, everyone felt that the effort was not in vain. The dragonflies on the wind lotus in the courtyard will dance with the spring device; the boats on the snowy surface of the broken bridge can be driven because there is a small mechanism inside. Similar small tricks make the badge more designed and interesting. U0026nbsp;
In addition to investigating the actual scenery, Yu Pengcheng and his team have also done a lot of work in exploring traditional Chinese culture and the cultural heritage of Hangzhou. "My favorite ones are these 5 badges from the Song Dynasty sports series." Yu Pengcheng told reporters that the design team conducted detailed research in the early stage. When they saw that there were also sports events in the Song Dynasty, they thought of designing a set of badges that could display popular sports events in the Song Dynasty. "Cute mascots, wear ancient clothing, match the equipment from that time, and perform these sports in the Song Dynasty scene, have a dialogue between ancient and modern times, and fully demonstrate the Song Dynasty culture that has been passed down for thousands of years in Hangzhou."

During the product design process, it is common to repeatedly modify and re sample. Yu Pengcheng showed reporters two opening and closing ceremony badges named "Autumn Equinox" and "Cold Dew". They were made 15 times before and after, and after repeated modifications and polishing, the final satisfactory work was obtained. "The design drawings may not be limited to 15 versions. We have been working on them since last year, constantly adjusting them until around July of this year when they were finally finalized.";

Yu Pengcheng is extremely proud of the recent popularity of the Asian Games emblem. "On the one hand, it is recognition of our design, and on the other hand, it is also because more people are delighted to see the traditional Chinese culture contained in the badge." Yu Pengcheng hopes that a small badge can bring more diverse feelings to every follower and participant of the Asian Games.

The opening of the Asian Games is approaching, and with domestic and foreign athletes, journalists, and staff reporting one after another, exchanging badges has become a way of cultural exchange. Because of a badge, the distance between people from different countries and regions is brought closer, and friendship between athletes and staff begins.
Starting from the Beijing Winter Olympics, Yu Pengcheng has also joined the "pin swapping" army, collecting and exchanging badges with "Zhang You" to enrich his collection. He revealed to the reporter the secret to exchanging badges, "You can buy a few more limited edition badges, just have one, and the rest can be exchanged with others."
Yu Pengcheng said that by "switching pins", social barriers can be broken more easily and quickly. "You buy a few pins you like, hang them around your neck, and swagger to crowded places. If someone sees a pin they want, they will rush over to" get close to "you."
"The culture of 'pin swapping' at this year's Asian Games is very hot, and some people say that 'pin swapping' is the coolest and most popular way of socializing this year." Yu Pengcheng smiled and said that even though he is a designer, he is now "hard to find" and if he wants to collect all the badges, he must go and exchange them. "In fact, while collecting badges, we also cherish this period of Asian Games time. When we see each small badge, we will think of the beautiful story behind them about this Asian Games."
