Wang Yi Holds a Meeting with Assistant to the US President for National Security Affairs Sullivan
On September 16-17, 2023 local time, Wang Yi, a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Director of the Central Foreign Affairs Office, held multiple rounds of meetings with Assistant to the US President for National Security Affairs, Sullivan, in Malta.
Both sides engaged in frank, substantive, and constructive strategic communication around stabilizing and improving Sino US relations.China's development has a strong endogenous driving force and follows an inevitable historical logic, which cannot be stopped. The legitimate right of the Chinese people to development cannot be deprived.
Both sides agree to continue implementing the important consensus reached at the Bali meeting between the two heads of state, maintaining high-level exchanges between the two sides, and holding consultations on China US Asia Pacific Affairs, Ocean Affairs, and Foreign Policy. Both sides discussed measures to further support and facilitate personnel exchanges between the two countries.
Both sides also discussed the situation in the Asia Pacific region, international and regional issues such as Ukraine and the Korean Peninsula.
Maltese President Villa Meets with Wang Yi
On September 17th local time, Maltese President Villa met with Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Director of the Central Foreign Affairs Office, at the Presidential Palace.
Wang Yi stated that thanks to the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China Malaysia relations have maintained healthy and stable development. Mutual respect, equal treatment, mutual assistance, and common development between the two countries have become a model of state to state relations. China appreciates Malaysia's adherence to the One China principle, its objective and friendly view of China's development, and its understanding and support of China's legitimate propositions. We are willing to work together with the Malaysian side to continue to firmly support each other, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and jointly embark on the next 50 years of a better China Malaysia relationship.

He expressed that the meeting between China and the United States was comprehensive, in-depth, and beneficial, as the two sides had a long period of communication on how to stabilize bilateral relations, effectively manage differences, explore mutually beneficial cooperation, and assume their respective international responsibilities to address global challenges.
Malaysia firmly adheres to the One China policy and looks forward to deepening practical cooperation with China to promote greater development of bilateral relations. The Malaysian side admires China's development achievements, appreciates China's active diplomacy, maintains and promotes peace, and is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with China in international and regional affairs. Welcome the meeting between China and the United States in Malta to bring benefits to the world.
Wang Yi expressed that China supports Malaysia's appointment as a non permanent member of the United Nations Security Council and welcomes Malaysia's continued unique role in addressing international and regional hot issues.
During his visit to Malta, Wang Yi also met with Maltese Foreign Minister Bochi.
