Ukrainian Prime Minister shouts to the West, "We need 42 billion next year."
According to TASS on September 19th, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmegar announced that Ukraine will need $42 billion in financial support from the West in 2024, which is equivalent to the deficit stipulated in next year's budget draft.
According to reports, Shimegar said at a government meeting, "Like this year, we will need financial support from our partners next year, with an amount of approximately $42 billion."
Shimegar stated that this money may come from the EU Ukraine Fund, the International Monetary Fund, the United States, and "other friends and partners".
According to reports, the Ukrainian government approved next year's budget draft on the 15th, with a deficit of 1.55 trillion hryvna, almost half of the expenditure. Meanwhile, more than half of the budget will be used for military expenditures, an increase of 113 billion hryvnas compared to this year.
The report indicates that in 2023, the Ukrainian government has set a record budget deficit of $38 billion. Kiev has publicly stated that it can only bear military expenses alone, and the rest will rely on Western partners for assistance.
