"Ukraine will sue three countries!"
According to TASS on September 18th, Taras Kaczka, Deputy Minister of Economy and Trade Representative of Ukraine, stated that Kiev will begin filing lawsuits against Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia with the World Trade Organization on September 18th because these countries have violated the decision of the European Commission by extending import bans on Ukrainian agricultural products.
According to reports, Kachika said that Kiev will have to respond to Warsaw's actions by banning the import of vegetables and fruits from Poland. He also claimed that Hungary's expansion of the trade embargo to 25 Ukrainian agricultural products, including meat, was a "political statement" to prevent trade with former Soviet countries and a "disregard for Brussels.".
The report pointed out that in April this year, five European countries banned the import of grain and other agricultural products from Ukraine. They later cancelled these measures in exchange for the European Commission's decision to impose an embargo on Ukrainian wheat, corn, rapeseed, and sunflower seeds. These five countries hope that the ban will be extended at least until the end of the year.
According to reports, Ukrainian President Zelensky has stated that Kiev firmly opposes any further restrictions on its food exports. The European Commission has violated its commitments, violated the terms of the agreement, and disrupted the free market environment. Therefore, Kiev is prepared to defend its rights in court. Although the European Commission refused to extend the embargo period after September 15th, Hungary, Slovakia, and Poland extended their import bans on Ukrainian agricultural products.
