Two departments have issued notices to prevent the spread of African swine fever from Sweden to China
On September 7, 2023, Sweden urgently reported to the World Organization for Animal Health that there was one African swine fever outbreak among wild boars in the Fagoshta region of the country. In order to protect the safety of China's animal husbandry industry and prevent the spread of epidemics, in accordance with relevant laws and regulations such as the Customs Law of the People's Republic of China, the Law of the People's Republic of China on Entry and Exit Animal and Plant Quarantine, and its implementation regulations, the following announcement is hereby made:
1、 It is prohibited to directly or indirectly import pigs, wild boars, and their products from Sweden.
2、 It is prohibited to send or carry pigs, wild boars, and their products from Sweden into the country. Once discovered, all items will be returned or destroyed.
3、 Animal and plant waste, swill, etc. unloaded from ships, aircraft and other transportation vehicles entering Sweden shall be subject to disinfection and disposal under the supervision of customs and shall not be disposed of without authorization.
4、 All illegally imported pigs, wild boars, and their products from Sweden intercepted by border inspection and other departments shall be destroyed under the supervision of customs.
5、 Anyone who violates the above regulations shall be dealt with by the customs in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Customs Law of the People's Republic of China, the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Entry and Exit Animal and Plant Quarantine, and their implementation regulations.
6、 Customs at all levels and agricultural and rural departments at all levels should closely cooperate and carry out quarantine, epidemic prevention, and supervision work in accordance with relevant provisions such as the Customs Law of the People's Republic of China, the Animal and Plant Quarantine Law of the People's Republic of China on Entry and Exit, and the Animal Epidemic Prevention Law of the People's Republic of China.
This announcement shall come into effect from the date of its publication.
