These twins have once again teamed up to accomplish great things, and after both were admitted to Peking University
Joining hands to take the Peking University entrance exam, or collaborating to publish top tier journals?
On September 12th, Peking University published an article introducing the hardcore experiences of a pair of twin brothers.
According to Peking University, this summer, students from the Turing class, Geng Haoran and Geng Yiran, received news that their collaborative paper had been pre accepted by the international journal Machine Learning. This was also the fourth collaboration between the twin brothers in scientific research. Previously, they had already received three collaborative papers at top international conferences such as ICRA and CVPR.
Geng Haoran has published 8 papers in top international conferences and journals such as CVPR, ICCV, and ICRA, including 4 papers in one piece. Among them, GAPartNet received full marks in CVPR2023 and was rated as a Highlight paper, while UniDexGrass++received full marks in ICCV2023 and was rated as an Oral paper.
Geng Yiran has published 7 papers in conference journals such as CVPR, ICRA, and Machine Learning, and won the championship in the MyoChallenge at NeuroIPS 2022.
In 2020, Geng Haoran and Geng Yiran from Tianjin were admitted to Peking University with excellent grades and chose the School of Information Science and Technology. They were studying in the same class in high school, with a difference of only 2 points in their college entrance examination scores.
In the autumn of the same year, through assessment and selection, newly enrolled Geng Haoran and Geng Yiran successfully entered the Turing class. Turing Class was founded in 2017, named after Alan Turing, the father of computer science, and is committed to cultivating international talents to lead the development of the next generation of computer science in China.
In scientific research, Geng Haoran and Geng Yiran have similar research directions and their respective strengths. In scientific research cooperation, they can always carry out efficient communication anytime and anywhere, colliding innovative opportunities and inspirations. Geng Haoran mainly focuses on how robots perceive the three-dimensional world around them and achieve generalized intelligent interaction through visual input; Geng Yiran's research topic is to attempt to use reinforcement learning and other technologies to help intelligent agents safely and flexibly complete human level high difficulty interaction tasks, and ensure their good generalization and adaptability in real machine environments.
Geng Haoran and Geng Yiran's university life focused on scientific research, but not just on it. During their college years, they exercised almost every day and actively participated in the Turing class sports meet and extracurricular sports events at Peking University.
Medals obtained from participating in various Peking University characteristic cultural and sports activities. The two individuals in the picture have been learning street dance and art since childhood, and were honored as Tianjin High School Art Specialists in high school. After entering university, they joined the Wind and Thunder Street Dance Society and performed the program "Huo Yuanjia" as choreographers and lead dancers in military training cultural performances.
Geng Haoran also serves as one of the leaders in the student Linux club, promoting computer knowledge to all students in the school and helping them solve computer problems.
In their view, "Scientific research does not only mean high intelligence and good ideas, but also requires continuous self-awareness and comprehensive personal qualities, such as writing ability, public speaking ability, communication and cooperation ability, ability to overcome difficulties and balance mentality, and so on."
