The US side refuses to make a public statement, and the President of this country is absent from the APEC meeting
According to a report by Effe on September 21st, the US government revealed that the White House had held talks with the Mexican government regarding the possibility of Mexican President Lopez not attending the APEC meeting to be held in San Francisco in November.
According to reports, Jack Sullivan, Assistant to the US President for National Security Affairs, stated at a press conference that the White House had "diplomatic talks" with Mexico, which mentioned the possibility of Lopez not attending the meeting. Lopez himself officially announced this decision on the 21st.
However, Sullivan refused to make a public statement about Lopez's absence in order for diplomatic talks to continue.
According to reports, Lopez announced at a morning press conference that he would not attend the APEC meeting on the grounds of the participation of the Peruvian government. After Peruvian President Pedro Castillo was impeached and stepped down by Congress in December last year, he referred to his successor Dina Boruarte as a "pseudo president".
As a remedial measure, Lopez invited Biden to visit Mexico or hold a meeting in Washington.
