The trial of Sun, a former first level inspector of the Propaganda Department of the Hainan Provincial Party Committee, in a bribery case involving nearly ten million yuan has begun
On September 12th, the Intermediate People's Court of Haikou City held a public hearing to hear the bribery case of Sun, a former first level inspector of the Propaganda Department of the Hainan Provincial Party Committee. The People's Procuratorate of Haikou City dispatched personnel to appear in court to support the prosecution, and the defendant Sun and his defense counsel appeared in court to participate in the lawsuit.

From 2011 to 2017, the defendant Sun took advantage of his position as a member of the Standing Committee of the Sanya Municipal Party Committee and Minister of the Propaganda Department to provide assistance to relevant enterprises and individuals in the contracting of cultural and sports activities, application and approval of provincial and municipal key cultural projects, and illegally received property equivalent to more than 9.85 million yuan. The prosecution believes that Sun used his position to seek benefits for others and illegally received a huge amount of money, and his behavior has constituted the crime of bribery; Sun voluntarily pleaded guilty to punishment and may be given lenient treatment in accordance with the law.
During the trial, the procuratorial organs presented relevant evidence, and the defendant Sun and his defense counsel conducted cross examination. Both the prosecution and defense fully expressed their arguments under the auspices of the court, and Sun made his final statement, admitting guilt and remorse in court.
