After being tried by the court, in the summer of 2020, Wang met Yang by chance through a dinner party. Later, Yang, along with Wang and his gang, stole an ancient tomb from a farmland in Tongcheng Town, Tianchang City. After appraisal, this is a tomb site from the Warring States period to the Han Dynasty. The bronze mirror stolen by Wang from here is called the Han Four Ru Four Worm Pattern Mirror, which is a general cultural relic.
Afterwards, Wang and his group of seven members discovered the ancient tomb of the late Warring States period in Xuyi and used the same methods to steal three third level cultural relics: the Warring States bronze sword, the Han Dynasty button connected arc patterned star cloud mirror, and the Warring States plain bronze tripod.
According to the Criminal Law, those who illegally excavate ancient cultural sites or tombs with historical, artistic, and scientific value shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not less than three years but not more than ten years and shall also be fined; If the situation is serious, he shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not less than ten years or life imprisonment, and shall also be fined or have his property confiscated.

In the trial, the procuratorial organs pointed out that the defendant Wang, who participated in the gang's tomb theft behavior while driving, and carried out specific work such as earthwork transportation, should still be recognized as the principal offender even though he did not descend to the tomb.
"During the process of tomb raiding, Wang not only drove, but also looked out for the wind and picked up soil, actively participating in the process. We believe that he played a major role, and when they shared the spoils, they also evenly distributed them," said Tong Xiaoxiao, Deputy Director of the First Procuratorate of Xuyi County People's Procuratorate.
In the trial, the public prosecution also filed a civil public interest lawsuit in accordance with the law against Wang and others for the damage caused to cultural relics by tomb raiding, demanding that several individuals jointly bear the corresponding public interest compensation. Based on Wang's criminal behavior and circumstances, the court ultimately sentenced him to ten years and three months in prison for the crime of robbing and excavating ancient tombs in the first instance, and fined him 30000 yuan. At the same time, the court ordered him to bear joint and several liability for the rescue archaeological excavation costs of over 70000 yuan.

The judge introduced that the crime of robbing and excavating ancient tombs is a criminal act. As long as the defendant has committed the act of robbing and excavating ancient tombs, even if no cultural relics have been excavated, it still constitutes the crime of robbing and excavating ancient tombs. Once precious cultural relics are excavated, the sentence will be more than ten years in prison. If cultural relics are accidentally found, they should be submitted in a timely manner.
The public trial held at the museum this time also calls on everyone to actively participate in the protection of cultural relics and jointly safeguard cultural heritage.
