According to a report from the Vietnamese Ministry of Health on the 18th, as of the 17th, there have been a total of 81808 confirmed cases and 23 deaths of dengue fever in Vietnam this year. Compared with the same period last year, the number of cases nationwide in Vietnam has decreased by 59.8%, and the number of deaths has decreased by 84. However, the epidemic is spreading rapidly in the capital city of Hanoi.
According to data released by the Hanoi Center for Disease Control and Prevention, as of now, there have been a total of 10372 confirmed cases of dengue fever in Hanoi this year, nearly four times higher than the same period last year, with 3 deaths. In the past week, Hanoi has reported 2010 new confirmed cases, which is twice the number of new cases in the last week of August. Recently, Hanoi City and its surrounding areas have been experiencing sustained high temperatures and abundant rainfall, which is conducive to the breeding of mosquitoes and has exacerbated the spread of dengue fever.
In order to curb the spread of dengue fever and reduce deaths, the Vietnamese Ministry of Health has issued multiple documents requesting provinces and cities to strengthen tracking of the epidemic, ensure sufficient drugs and medical equipment, so that critically ill patients can receive timely treatment. The Vietnamese Ministry of Health also recommends that the public take preventive measures such as eliminating mosquitoes and seek medical attention promptly when symptoms appear.
