The National Fire Bureau commemorates Chen Zuyan and Hu Xudong for their first-class merit
On the morning of September 10th, the farewell ceremony for the bodies of heroes Ke Jiayong, Chen Zuyan, and Hu Xudong who sacrificed themselves in flood control and rescue on September 5th was held at the funeral home in Yongtai County, Fuzhou City, Fujian Province.
At 9:30, the farewell ceremony for the body officially began. All participants in the ceremony collectively observed a moment of silence and paid tribute; The life stories of three heroes were introduced on site. People attending the farewell ceremony bow and lay flowers to the coffin and portrait of the hero, and walk around the spirit to pay tribute to the deceased, expressing endless grief.
The Fuzhou Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China posthumously awarded Comrade Ke Jiayong the title of "Outstanding Communist Party Member of the City", and the Fuzhou Public Security Bureau has applied to posthumously award Comrade Ke Jiayong the title of Public Security Hero Model. The National Fire and Rescue Bureau posthumously honored Chen Zuyan with first-class merit and Hu Xudong with first-class merit.
Affected by typhoon "Haikui", Yongtai County in Fujian Province experienced the strongest rainfall since 1960 on September 5th. On the early morning of the 5th, when the crowd was trapped and reported to the police, the Yongtai County Fire Brigade and a team of 9 people from Tangqian Police Station rushed to the scene for rescue. During this period, a sudden flash flood occurred, and 9 rescue workers and their firefighting vehicles were washed away by the flood. After the incident, emergency response teams were established in Fuzhou city and county, organizing various forces of over 760 people to carry out uninterrupted search and rescue operations.
On the afternoon of September 6th, the search and rescue work was completed, and 6 firefighters were rescued. The remaining 2 firefighters and 1 police officer sacrificed their lives on duty.
