Previously, the official claimed that Cavalcante was "extremely dangerous". According to the New York Times, the police and a local non-profit organization, Pennsylvania Crime Stopper, have released a bounty offering clues to help capture Cavalcante, with a joint bounty amount of $20000.
On the afternoon of September 10th local time, the Pennsylvania Police Department announced at a press conference that Cavalcante had stolen a van. The car was reported stolen by a farm in West Chester and was found abandoned in the southeast town of Mayer on the evening of the 9th. The investigators found that the key was left inside the car and confirmed that Cavalcante had used the car.
According to Pennsylvania police, Cavalcante also contacted two former colleagues during his escape, requesting to meet with them. As of the afternoon of the 10th local time, the police are not yet sure if Kavalkant is carrying a weapon, but they can confirm that he has entered several residential buildings since his escape from prison. It is still unclear whether he took anything from these places.

According to previous reports, in 2021, Kavalkant killed his ex girlfriend with a knife and was sentenced to life imprisonment in August 2023. In his hometown of Brazil, Cavalcante is wanted in connection with a murder case in 2017. He attempted to prevent his ex girlfriend from reporting his case to the police by killing her.
On September 6th local time, the police released surveillance footage of Kavalkant's escape from prison. The video shows him climbing from the prison sports field to the roof, crossing the prison wall in a "crab crawling" posture, and then disappearing. The police stated that this is the same route as a prisoner's escape on May 19th.
