The Kilaway volcano in Hawaii, USA, erupted for the third time this year after a three-month hiatus
After a three-month hiatus from the previous eruption, one of the most active volcanoes in the world, Mount Kilaway in Hawaii, USA, began a new round of eruptions on the 10th.
"The Kilave volcano is erupting," the US Geological Survey said in a statement on the same day. After relevant evaluations, the Hawaii Volcano Observatory of the United States Geological Survey has raised the warning level for Mount Kilaway from "observation" to "warning", and the aviation color code has been raised from "orange" to "red".
The video footage shows that the cracks at the bottom of the Kilave crater are producing lava flows. According to the United States Geological Survey, there was strong seismic activity before the eruption of the volcano.
The Hawaii Emergency Management Agency wrote on social media that the eruption "does not pose a threat to residential areas," but human exposure to volcanic ash particles and gas may cause respiratory problems. The Hawaii Volcano Observatory reminds residents near Mount Kilaway to avoid contact with volcanic ash particles in the air as much as possible.
This is the third eruption of Mount Kilave this year, with the first two eruptions occurring in January and June respectively, attracting a large number of tourists to come and watch. The eruption of Mount Kilave in 2018 resulted in the destruction of over 700 residential buildings.
In August of this year, a severe wildfire broke out on Maui Island in Hawaii, causing 115 deaths, making it the deadliest wildfire in the United States in over a century. As of the 8th of this month, there are still 66 people missing.
