The "high-altitude tightrope like negotiation" within the United States is currently in a critical stage
According to Agence France Presse on September 16th, the Stellantis Group, which produces Jeep cars, said on September 16th that the high-altitude wire walking negotiations between striking American workers and automotive giants are in a "critical stage".
According to reports, the "three major" American car manufacturers - Stellantis Group, General Motors, and Ford - suffered a limited strike on the 15th. But the United Automobile Workers Union warns that the strike may escalate.
The statement from the Stellantis Group stated that "our negotiation team will continue to work day and night, weekend, and non-stop, in search of a reasonable solution." However, if the negotiation situation worsens, the outcome "will cause us to regress and endanger our company's long-term competitiveness, which will have a negative impact on our workers and our community.".
According to reports, out of the 150000 members of the United Automobile Workers Union, only about 12700 are currently on strike. But due to the first coordinated strike action by workers from all three major automakers, including demands for a 40% salary increase over a four-year contract period, automakers may face much more disruptive shutdowns.
