The Guangxi Water Resources Allocation Project in the Beibu Gulf has entered the construction and implementation stage. Guangxi | Resource Allocation
Guangming Daily, Beijing, September 8th (Xinhua) - Chen Chen learned from the Ministry of Water Resources that on September 8th, the mobilization meeting for the construction of the Guangxi Water Resources Allocation Project in the Beibu Gulf was held simultaneously in Hepu County of Beihai City, Binyang County of Nanning City, Lingshan County of Qinzhou City, and Fumian District of Yulin City, marking the official entry into the construction and implementation stage of the water resources allocation project with the largest investment, the largest beneficiary population, and the most significant comprehensive benefits in Guangxi.
The Guangxi Water Resources Allocation Project in the Beibu Gulf has been included in national plans such as the 14th Five Year Plan and the 2035 Long Range Goal Outline, the National Water Network Construction Plan, and the National 14th Five Year Plan for Water Safety Guarantee. It is one of the 150 major water conservancy projects deployed and implemented by the State Council. The construction task of the project is to provide urban and rural living and industrial water supply to key cities such as Nanning, Beihai, Qinzhou, and Yulin, improve water supply security and guarantee capabilities, and create conditions for improving agricultural irrigation and water ecological environment. The project takes the Yujiang River as the core water source, connecting 12 rivers and 15 reservoirs, forming a water network pattern of river reservoir connection, internal and external transfer, and multi-source mutual aid. It is divided into four water supply areas, including Nanning Water Supply Area, Beihai Water Supply Area, Qinzhou Water Supply Area, and Yulin Water Supply Area. The expected average annual water supply is 805 million cubic meters, and the total length of the water supply line is 491.94 kilometers. The main construction includes 6 water supply main lines, 12 branch lines, 9 pumping stations, and 44 tunnels. The total construction period of the project is 72 months, and the estimated total investment is 28.041 billion yuan.
It is reported that after the completion of the Guangxi Water Resources Allocation Project in the Beibu Gulf, it has significant benefits for people's livelihoods, economy, and ecology. In terms of people's livelihood benefits, it is expected that the average annual domestic water supply of the project will be 404 million cubic meters, which can provide reliable water sources for nearly 14 million people in 21 counties and 4 cities in Guangxi. This will put an end to the history of insufficient water resources and seasonal water use difficulties in Beihai, Yulin and other places, and put an end to the history of Nanning, Qinzhou and other places without backup water sources. In terms of economic benefits, it is expected that the average annual industrial water supply of the project will be 365 million cubic meters, which can solve the water supply problem of regional cities and important industrial parks, effectively guarantee the water demand of 34 industrial parks and key enterprises such as the Nanning Airport Economic Demonstration Zone, and provide water support for undertaking the transfer of industries in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, the Yangtze River Delta, and other areas. At the same time, it can restore and improve 1.3 million mu of irrigation area, add over 200000 tons of grain production capacity, and promote rural revitalization. In terms of ecological benefits, the project can return 154 million cubic meters of water used for ecological environment in major rivers such as Nanliu River and Qinjiang River, and reduce 199 million cubic meters of groundwater mining output in Beihai and other places, improve the ecological environment of rivers and lakes, urban and rural areas, and effectively guarantee the safety of regional ecological environment.
