The first Hong Kong made satellite, "Hong Kong Star", has been taken offline
On September 20th, Hong Kong's first internationally leading high-resolution remote sensing AI satellite, Hong Kong Star, was successfully launched at the Hong Kong Satellite Manufacturing Center of the New Space Group. The Hong Kong Star is scheduled to be launched at the sea launch platform in Yangjiang City, Guangdong Province at the end of November this year.
"Hong Kong Star" is equipped with a high-resolution optical camera, which can provide global sub meter level visible light remote sensing images, and can achieve various satellite applications. It provides high-precision remote sensing perception data for the global Internet of Things, disaster prevention and reduction, emergency safety, remote sensing perception, smart city construction and other fields, greatly promoting the high-quality development of Hong Kong's economy and society.
To further leverage Hong Kong's unique advantages and comprehensively build its space industry, from 2024 to 2029, Hong Kong will be committed to building a "Hong Kong Space Star Chain" consisting of 720 satellites, achieving a space satellite network service capability that is "based in Hong Kong and radiating to the world".
