Temporary gun ban in New Mexico, USA boycotted by gun organizations Governor's response: fed up with gun violence epidemic

According to ABC on September 11th, New Mexico Governor Michel Lujan Grisham recently announced a 30 day temporary gun ban, suspending the right of some residents in public places to carry firearms. However, this move has been resisted by gun rights organizations, some law enforcement officers, and regional leaders.
There have been three recent shootings involving children in New Mexico, including last week when an 11 year old boy was shot dead outside a park. After the incident, Grisham issued a temporary gun ban, prohibiting the public from carrying firearms in the largest cities of the state, Albuquerque and Bernalillo County. She also declared a state of public health emergency in New Mexico due to gun violence and stated in a statement, "From 2009 to 2018, the gun mortality rate in New Mexico increased by 43%. When people are afraid to go to public places, afraid to take their children to school, and when everyone's right to survival is threatened at any time, things have become unusual."
After the temporary ban on firearms was issued, some people immediately resisted and opposed it. The Firearms Rights Association of America has filed a lawsuit in court to prevent the implementation of the gun ban, arguing that the ban on carrying weapons violates the US Constitution.

But Grisham said, "Gun violence is an epidemic in the United States, and I've had enough of it. I don't want it to spread anywhere in my state." She also said that temporary gun bans are enforced by state police, and violators will be fined up to $5000.
