In 2022, the container throughput of Shanghai Port exceeded 47.3 million TEUs, ranking first in the world for 13 consecutive years. According to the liner transportation connectivity index released by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, Shanghai Port has been ranked first in the world for 12 consecutive years. From January to August this year, Shanghai Port completed a container throughput of 32.14 million TEUs, a year-on-year increase of 3.6%. The construction of the container terminal and supporting facilities in the Xiaoyangshan North Work Area, the first phase of the container terminal renovation project in the Luojing Port Area, and the Taicang to Fourth Regiment section of the Shanghai Suzhou Tong Railway have started. The Yangshan Phase IV automated terminal opened in December 2017, and through continuous system iteration and functional improvement, the entire Yangshan Phase IV terminal has entered a mature operation stage.
Zhang Xin, Vice President of Shanggang Group, introduced that in 2022, the entire Yangshan Phase IV automated terminal has exceeded the designed 6.3 million production capacity of the terminal, and completed a container throughput of 6.35 million TEUs throughout the year. We will continue to expand the construction scale of automated docks in the future, such as the Luojing Phase I dock and the Yangshan North side dock, which will be designed and built according to the automated dock design, further expanding the scale of automated docks. At the same time, the existing traditional container terminal automation transformation will be implemented in an orderly manner to further enhance the proportion of container automation operations in the entire Shanghai Port.
Since the beginning of this year, the Shanghai air transportation market has shown a good development momentum. While rapidly restoring domestic and international flights, it has also quickly restored the support capabilities for inbound and outbound flights at two airports and the international transfer function at Pudong Airport, laying the foundation for airlines to carry out international intermodal transportation. At the same time, the aviation services of Shanghai Airport have also extended to major cities in the Yangtze River Delta. This year, the international airport Kunshan Cargo Station, jointly built by Shanghai Airport, China Eastern Airlines Logistics, and Kunshan Comprehensive Bonded Zone, has been officially put into operation; The Shanghai Airport Suzhou Urban Terminal, jointly constructed with Suzhou Industrial Park, has been put into use. The construction of airport buildings and cargo terminals in the Yangtze River Delta City has provided more convenient and efficient services for air passenger travel and cargo transportation in the region.
It is reported that in order to enhance the level of Shanghai International Aviation Hub, Shanghai Airport continues to increase investment and improve ground support resources. After capacity assessment, the Civil Aviation Administration of China approved an increase in peak hour capacity standards for two flights in Shanghai in June this year. This means that Shanghai Airport can fly more route flights than in 2019 and actively attract domestic and foreign airlines to open new international navigation points in Shanghai, enhancing the accessibility of the hub network.
