Russia earns a lot of rupees and has nowhere to spend it? India proposes
According to Russia's International News Agency on the 11th, Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov stated on the 10th that India plans to provide various investment options for Russia's "billion rupee assets" that are stuck in India.
Lavrov told the media that he recently met with Indian Foreign Minister Rajeship to discuss bilateral issues, including trade settlement. Currently, Russia has accumulated billions of rupees in Indian bank accounts, and both sides are discussing how to use these rupees. The Indian side has stated that they suggest using these funds to invest in India's "promising areas".
Foreign media reported earlier that the unbalanced trade relationship with India has forced Russia to hold up to $1 billion in rupee assets overseas every month, with a value of over $147 billion by the end of 2022. Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov also admitted in May that Russia has accumulated billions of Indian rupees in Indian banks, but cannot spend them.
