Putin: Far East Development is a Strategic Priority for Russia Vladivostok | Russia | Strategy
On September 12th local time, the plenary session of the 8th Oriental Economic Forum was held in Vladivostok, Russia. Russian President Putin attended the plenary session and delivered a speech.
Putin stated that the trade volume between Russia and countries in the Asia Pacific region increased by 13.7% in 2022, and by 18.3% in the first half of this year. The Russian side is willing to continue developing trade with the Asia Pacific region.
Putin emphasized that the development of the Far East region is a strategic priority for Russia in the 21st century, and the economic development of the Far East region is very important for Russia. Overall, the investment growth rate in the Far East region is twice that of the entire Russian country. Russia will continue to improve the business environment for enterprises in the Far East and strengthen investment in the region. Putin also proposed a series of development plans in multiple fields such as energy, transportation, logistics, and mining in the Far East region.
The 8th Oriental Economic Forum was held from September 10th to 13th at the Far Eastern Federal University in Vladivostok. The theme of this forum is "Towards Cooperation, Peace, and Prosperity".
According to the initiative of Russian President Putin, in order to strengthen relations with countries in the Asia Pacific region, Russia has been holding the Oriental Economic Forum annually in Vladivostok since 2015.
