Put forward three propositions, and China represents more than 80 countries to voice a common voice
More than 80 Chinese representatives have voiced a common voice in the Human Rights Council on protecting the rights and interests of women with disabilities
Geneva, September 20 (Xinhua) - Chen Xu, the Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other international organizations in Switzerland, made a joint speech on "Disabled Women and Social Inclusion" on behalf of more than 80 countries at the 54th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council on September 20, receiving enthusiastic responses.
The joint statement pointed out that disabled women are equal members of the human family. Since the convening of the World Women's Congress in Beijing, significant progress has been made in the global women's cause. However, disabled women still face challenges such as inadequate social security, discrimination, and poverty.
The joint statement emphasizes that promoting social inclusive development is an important way to benefit disabled women and contribute to their equal survival and development. We need to expand the participation of disabled women in economic, social, and cultural affairs, making them participants, contributors, and beneficiaries in promoting comprehensive human development and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Put forward three propositions in a joint speech. One is to enhance social inclusivity awareness. Effectively implement the Beijing Declaration and Action Plan, eliminate prejudice and discrimination against women with disabilities. The second is to advocate for social inclusion policies. Encourage the provision of more comprehensive elderly care conditions for disabled women, ensuring their stable protection of their right to survival and better realization of their right to development. The third is to carry out social inclusion construction. Promote the construction of accessible facilities to make them more systematic, accessible, and inclusive.
