On September 17th local time, members of an environmental group called the "Last Generation" sprayed a large amount of colored paint on the iconic Brandenburg Gate in the German capital Berlin. Police arrested 14 perpetrators at the scene.
The "Last Generation" was established in 2021, claiming to be concerned about climate change. It has organized protests in museums, airports, or sports venues, but has sparked controversy due to its radical actions. Last October, members of the "last generation" attacked the painter Monet's masterpiece "Haystack" at the Barberini Museum in Potsdam, Germany, and poured mashed potatoes on the frame glass. A few days later, members of this group poured pea soup on the Van Gogh painting "The Sower" on display in Rome, Italy. Fortunately, it was blocked by glass and the painting was not damaged.
