People's Daily and Voice: Building a Global Community with a Shared Future in the South

The summit of the Group of 77 and China was recently held in Havana, the capital of Cuba. Heads of state or government from 31 countries, heads of international and regional organizations, and high-level delegations from 116 countries attended. On this important multilateral cooperation platform for developing countries, China has joined hands with the vast number of developing countries to raise the banner of development, focus on coordinating and cooperating to address current challenges, and issue a strong voice to jointly promote global governance towards greater fairness and justice, releasing a positive signal of unity and self-improvement among countries in the South.

The world is experiencing unprecedented changes in a century, and the power of developing countries is constantly growing. South South cooperation is playing an increasingly important role in maintaining the collective rise of developing countries and promoting stable growth of the world economy. Faced with the rampant unilateralism and hegemonism, some countries have resorted to unilateral sanctions and decoupling, seriously damaging the legitimate development rights and space of developing countries. Developing countries generally hope to strengthen unity and cooperation, safeguard the right to development, defend fairness and justice, and promote global governance towards a more just and reasonable direction.

The summit passed the Havana Declaration, calling for a comprehensive reform of the international financial structure and the construction of a more inclusive and coordinated global economic governance pattern; Oppose unilateral sanctions against developing countries. These fully demonstrate that the Group of 77 and China practice true multilateralism, firmly uphold international fairness and justice, strive to enhance the voice of developing countries, and safeguard the common interests of developing countries. They are a just force for unity, cooperation, and common development. UN Secretary General Guterres said in his speech that the Group of 77 and China has always supported multilateralism and played an important role within the UN framework.

As the world's largest developing country and a natural member of the global South, China has always breathed and shared a common destiny with other developing countries. Against the backdrop of the world entering a period of turbulence and increasing instability and uncertainty, China is committed to working together with all parties to build a global community with a shared future in the South. It advocates for developing countries to uphold their original aspiration of independence, unity, and self-improvement, promote the spirit of justice, equality, and inclusiveness, and fulfill the mission of development, revitalization, and win-win cooperation. Developing countries jointly oppose group confrontation and Cold War mentality, and insist on resolving differences and disputes between countries through peaceful means in order to better safeguard world peace and tranquility; Only by actively speaking out and upholding justice in the international arena can developing countries continuously enhance their voice and representativeness in global governance, and better safeguard their common interests.

China has always regarded South South cooperation as a priority direction for foreign cooperation and is a firm promoter and active contributor to global development. China has provided development assistance to more than 160 countries, worked with more than 150 countries and more than 30 international organizations to build the "the Belt and Road", and worked with more than 100 countries and international organizations to promote cooperation in global development initiatives, demonstrating the responsibility of a responsible major country. China will continue to work closely with the members of the Group of 77 to optimize the input of development resources, give full play to the maximum effectiveness of public goods such as the "the Belt and Road" initiative, and solve development problems. Many representatives from participating countries believe that China actively promotes South South cooperation and plays an important role in achieving social progress and improving people's well-being for developing countries. Nicaraguan President Ortega stated that China's assistance to the people of Asia, Africa, and Latin America is not conditional and contributes to promoting social progress and people's well-being in developing countries.

The Havana Declaration incorporates multiple Chinese concepts and propositions, clearly stating that relevant parties should strive to achieve global development and win-win cooperation on the basis of consultation, joint construction, and sharing, and promote the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind. This once again indicates that China's plan is in line with the trend of the times and conforms to the common expectations of developing countries for development and cooperation. Cuban President Diaz Canel pointed out that the Global Development Initiative is of great significance and value, and this inclusive initiative conforms to the trend of establishing a new fair and just international order. Djibouti Prime Minister Kamil stated that developing countries should explore relevant mechanisms and measures to promote their own production and technological progress, in order to promote sustainable development. China's global development initiative is in line with this.

China firmly stands on the correct side of history and adheres to the principle of "the path of the great road is for the benefit of the world.". No matter to what extent it develops, China will always be a member of the developing country family and a member of the global southern countries. No matter how the international situation changes, China will always be a sincere friend and reliable partner of developing countries, a staunch supporter and fellow traveler of the Group of 77, committed to achieving common development and revitalization, and creating a better tomorrow for human society.
