Excerpts from Confessions
I started working in the procuratorial organs, and with the improvement of my abilities and the promotion of my position, the sense of professional honor began to alienate. I gradually evolved from the confidence that "those who know and understand the law will not break the law" to the arrogance that "I am a law enforcer and cannot be the object of law enforcement", ultimately leading to my privileged thoughts taking root and sprouting in my mind, growing wildly like weeds. I naively believe that the blade of anti-corruption usually does not turn inward, and even if it does, it is only a minor scratch. As a prosecutor, I can turn a big issue into a small one. I should have been "strong" but "weak" in my party spirit cultivation, and "nothing" but "heavy" in my privileged ideology. The dual consequence is a lack of respect for discipline and law, and I am going further and further on the path of violating discipline and law.
Previously, as the prosecutor general, I gave a special party lecture on preventing job-related crimes to county officials every year. In class, I will use real-life cases investigated by the procuratorial organs, especially those familiar to the students, to explain the harm of job-related crimes. However, in the classroom, I became a "caring" friend of businessmen, often indulging in feasting, playing cards and gambling together, and even accepting red envelopes, gifts, and bribes. Now it seems that in the classroom, I have two lives and two endings. In the classroom, I am the chief prosecutor who advises people to abide by laws and regulations, and in the classroom, I am the gravedigger of self destruction.
Firstly, there are high-end banquets, followed by offering cigarettes and alcohol during the Chinese New Year, and even offering red envelope gifts worth thousands or even tens of thousands of yuan. I understand very well that these are violations of party discipline and rules, but I mistakenly believe that this level of "hunting" is only considered "mild", just like a mild cold that can be cured without taking medicine. The harm to me is not significant, and it will not allow me to act against principles or laws, nor will the organization investigate and punish me for this.
Once the defense line of thought is torn apart, the bottom line of behavior will be easily breached. In early 2013, when a certain boss presented me with 800000 yuan in cash in the name of investment dividends, I, who usually claimed to be able to adhere to the legal bottom line, knew that accepting it was bribery, but I only resisted a little and surrendered. I am lucky enough to believe that I will not be investigated by the organization, let alone that I have been disguised as an investment dividend in my improper economic dealings with the boss. Even if I am investigated by the organization, I can still use this as an excuse to "escape the shell".
My inner greed for money overcame my reverence for discipline and law, and my self righteous luck overcame my rational thinking of self reflection and self alarm. In the end, I chose to take bribes and foolishly believed that using someone else's bank card to receive money could be hidden, completely leading me to a path of no return. I once swore before the party flag to be loyal to the party. However, in reality, I am disloyal to the party and willing to be "hunted", becoming a "guest" of unscrupulous businessmen and becoming the most hated corrupt element among the people.
