On the morning of the 14th, Red Star News learned from the relevant person in charge of NetEase that NetEase Fuxi issued an internal letter explaining the situation regarding the employee's passing.
NetEase internal information. According to the letter, at 3pm on September 4th, the employee communicated with HRBP and revealed for the first time that they may have a tendency towards depression. They have been suffering from insomnia in recent weeks. After learning about the situation, HRBP has arranged for him to take an afternoon off that day.
During the employee vacation period from September 4th to 6th, the business supervisor, HRBP, team colleagues, and others called and chatted to reassure him and take care of his illness. They also stated that the supervisor would take full responsibility for any problems that arise during the project. On the afternoon of September 5th at 1 o'clock, the employee shared a mental health examination form in the team work group, stating that they had started taking medication for treatment.
On the evening of September 6th at 11 o'clock, the company learned that an employee had an accident at their residence. The relevant supervisors and colleagues immediately communicated with their family members, hoping to see them for the last time. At the same time, they initiated the application for special assistance funds and other care funds, and assisted the family members in applying for commercial insurance claims. At the same time, the company promises to support the education expenses of employee children until they graduate from university at the age of 22.
Regarding the issue of a "bug" that has attracted attention, the letter provides a detailed explanation: on the morning of August 31st, the employee disclosed in the work group that there may be a bug in third-party open-source code. On September 1st, the security department evaluated the bug as "minor" and provided a repair plan.
From September 1st to 5th, the business supervisor and team colleagues communicated with employees multiple times about this matter, emphasizing that minor bugs are a common occurrence, and even if they are triggered with a very low probability, the team and supervisor will not hold them accountable.
In response to information circulating online about being threatened by HR due to bugs, NetEase Fuxi stated that after checking existing information such as chat records, no motivation or evidence related to the HR threat has been found. And promise that if there is any evidence to prove the existence of a threat situation in subsequent investigations, the company will seriously deal with relevant personnel.
Finally, the letter stated that in addition to continuing to provide long-term and systematic free psychological care consultation services to employees and their immediate family members, we will also increase investment, regularly organize special mental health events, strengthen scientific promotion of mental health prevention and control knowledge, and provide more professional assistance to employees in need.
