My Embassy in Japan: China was not invited to participate in the analysis and comparative testing of nuclear contaminated water
Spokesperson of the Embassy in Japan answers questions from reporters regarding the discharge of contaminated water from Fukushima nuclear power plant into the sea
Q: Recently, the Japanese side released a message regarding the testing of Fukushima nuclear contaminated water, stating that choosing which country's laboratory to participate in the analysis and comparative testing is an IAEA action, and the Japanese side did not participate. Japanese sampling and analysis have been recognized by the IAEA. May I ask if the Chinese side has any comments on this?
Answer: Previously, some media reported that "China has refused to join the international monitoring mechanism of the IAEA". The information released by Japan once again confirms that this report is false, and China has not been invited to participate in the analysis and comparative testing of nuclear contaminated water.

China has repeatedly emphasized the need to establish an international monitoring arrangement with full participation and long-term effectiveness from neighboring countries and other stakeholders as soon as possible. If Japan truly has confidence in the treatment of nuclear contaminated water, it should respond with a serious and responsible attitude.
