Mount Huangshan Scenic Spot in Anhui Province responded with eyes closed "and" a large number of flying insects directed at people's faces
On September 20, many tourists said that there were a large number of flying insects on the Lotus Peak in Mount Huangshan Mountain Scenic Area, Anhui Province, which directed directly at the human face. Many of them could not open their eyes.
The video shows that at the peak of Lianhua Peak, there are many flying insects in low altitude, constantly landing on tourists and their faces. Some tourists close their eyes, while others wave insects off their bodies with their hands.

Some people suspect it is a mosquito, and the video creator stated that it is not a mosquito, but rather an ant with wings. Some netizens also claimed that when they went last week, there was no such situation.
According to public data, Lianhua Peak is the highest peak in Mount Huangshan Scenic Area, the first of 36 peaks, with an altitude of 1864.8 meters.
On the same day, the reporter learned from Mount Huangshan Scenic Area that the Landscape Bureau of the Scenic Area Management Committee contacted domestic entomologists and carefully identified the samples. After the discussion between the Landscape Bureau of Mount Huangshan Scenic Area and domestic entomologists, the flying insect in the video was an ant.
At present, ants are in a breeding period, and the differentiated winged reproductive ants often fly in groups at favorable locations for dispersal. This is a natural phenomenon with a short duration. The number of colony flying ants varies with the size of the nest, and the time and location are also not fixed. In recent years, the phenomenon of winged breeding ants flying at the top of Lotus Peak has also happened occasionally in Mount Huangshan Scenic Area.
Experts specifically point out that except for a few species such as marching ants and red fire ants, other ants generally do not actively attack humans.
Next, Mount Huangshan Scenic Area will strengthen monitoring, conduct in-depth research with relevant experts and take targeted measures to effectively reduce the impact of ant swarming on tourism experience.
