"Make greater contributions to regional stability and prosperity"
The 20th China ASEAN Expo and China ASEAN Business and Investment Summit recently concluded in Nanning, Guangxi. Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar, who is attending this year's East China Expo in China, stated in a joint interview with Chinese media that since China proposed to build a closer China ASEAN community with a shared future, cooperation between ASEAN and China has unleashed enormous potential. Many ASEAN countries, including Malaysia, have benefited greatly from the increasingly close ASEAN China relationship.
"The pragmatic cooperation between ASEAN and China is showing a rapid growth trend," Anwar said, and ASEAN countries feel China's sincerity in developing relations with ASEAN. This year's East China Expo organized and signed a total of 470 investment cooperation projects, with a total investment of 487.3 billion yuan, of which manufacturing investment accounted for more than 65%. The number of events, projects, total investment, and manufacturing investment all reached new highs. Anwar believes that the East China Expo will help investors from ASEAN countries and China explore market opportunities and expand cooperation space. "Malaysia's agricultural products, palm oil, and other products have enormous potential in the Chinese market, and the two sides have broad cooperation space in the field of food security."
China and Malaysia are good neighbors and partners for mutual development.Anwar stated that exchanges with Chinese leaders are "friendly and fruitful", promoting the deepening of Malaysia China relations. In recent years, practical cooperation between Malaysia and China has expanded to new fields such as education, food technology, and digital transformation, unleashing greater potential. "I believe that the future of Malaysia China relations and ASEAN China relations is bright and beautiful."
Anwar stated that Malaysia supports China's accession to the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement, and is willing to work together with China to implement the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, advance negotiations on upgrading the ASEAN China Free Trade Area, and expand regional investment and trade. "Malaysia, like many ASEAN countries, relies relatively on trade for economic development. We welcome all agreements that promote trade and investment liberalization and facilitation." Anwar said, "The more economic cooperation agreements ASEAN countries reach with China, the more we can benefit from them, from the service industry, infrastructure construction, digital economy, automobiles, petrochemicals, and renewable energy.".
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the initiative of jointly building the "the Belt and Road".Malaysia has benefited from the joint construction of the "the Belt and Road", and the flagship projects of Malaysia China cooperation such as the "Two Countries, Two Parks" and the East Coast Railway have been promoted and implemented. Anwar said that Malaysia and China will continue to jointly build the "the Belt and Road" with high quality, explore the possibility of cooperation in port construction, human resources development, rural development and other fields, "better benefit the two peoples, and make greater contributions to regional stability and prosperity".
