Ma Ying jeou's criticism: We are not a US colony, the DPP authorities are pushing for a "bilingual education policy"
According to Taiwan's "China Times News Network", the Democratic Progressive Party's push for the "2030 Bilingual Policy" has sparked a series of external backlash. Former Taiwan leader Ma Ying jeou publicly stated on the 18th that we are not colonies of Britain or the United States, and bilingual policies are neither necessary nor feasible. Education should not go astray to avoid causing suffering for everyone.
He emphasized that we can teach our children English well, but since we are not colonies of Britain or the United States, there is no need to implement a bilingual policy.
Ma Ying jeou said that whenever he heard about bilingual education, he felt heartbroken for his children because this policy caused experts to shake their heads, teachers to rebound, students to torture, and even led to a decline in learning. He called on those engaged in education to adopt the right policies, and also hoped that Taiwan's education policy would go in the normal direction, not go astray, to avoid causing everyone's pain.
According to previous reports, the so-called "bilingual policy" launched by the Taiwan authorities in 2021 claims to make English the official language by 2030.After the implementation of the policy, due to the lack of complete supporting measures and other reasons, teachers and students on the island have been constantly complaining and criticizing.
