Recently, a vocational and technical training teaching spanning China and Thailand has been successfully completed in the metaverse.
Zhang Guifei and Liang Chongxia, students from Tianjin Bohai Vocational and Technical College in China, as well as Panuvi Bujin and Vayu Ponsat, students from Dacheng Technical College in Thailand, wore VR helmets and jointly completed practical training courses on skills such as "disassembly and assembly of automotive parts" in the metaverse.
Teachers and students from both places watched the cross-border metaverse teaching activity synchronously through large screens - the reason they met was due to the joint construction of the Luban Workshop in Thailand by these two technical colleges.

Luban Workshop is an international brand of vocational education created under the guidance of the Chinese Ministry of Education and led by Tianjin City. It adopts a combination of academic education and vocational training, trains local teachers according to Chinese standards, and then teaches students. Based on recognition, it shares the excellent achievements of Chinese vocational education with other countries.
In March 2016, the world's first Luban workshop - Thailand Luban Workshop was completed and put into operation. Tianjin Bohai Vocational and Technical College has provided excellent teachers, advanced teaching equipment, and generous scholarships for further studies in China, making its partner, Thailand Dacheng Technical College, a "leader" among local vocational and technical colleges in terms of hardware equipment, curriculum design, teaching level, and teaching achievements.

Tanu Wojinda, Secretary General of the Vocational Education Commission of the Ministry of Education of Thailand, said that the establishment of the Luban Workshop in Thailand meets the demand for high-quality talents in the industrial and transportation sectors of Thailand, and sets a model for the external cooperation of vocational colleges in Thailand.
Over the past seven years, Tianjin has built 21 Luban workshops in 20 countries, forming an international technical and skilled personnel training system that runs through the "medium and high level masters". More than 3000 people have received academic education in cooperative countries, more than 10000 have participated in training, 14 international professional teaching standards have been incorporated into the national education system of cooperative countries, and many young skilled personnel have been trained for the "the Belt and Road" countries.
In June 2023, at the Luban Workshop Agricultural Machinery Training Overseas Training Base in Pakistan - a dedicated field for the Luban Workshop at MNS Agricultural University in Multan, Pakistan, students from the Luban Workshop demonstrated their field operations using the agricultural machinery training equipment "Chinese self-propelled corn harvester". The operations were very smooth, including picking corn ears, peeling bracts, lifting and removing impurities, and returning straw to the field.

Since the launch of the Luban Workshop in Pakistan in July 2018, the Chinese partner Tianjin Modern Vocational and Technical College has continued to promote its operation and construction. The curriculum of the Luban Workshop has been included in the vocational training curriculum system of Punjab Province, Pakistan.
Kang Ning, Secretary of the Party Committee of Tianjin Modern Vocational and Technical College, said, "Field teaching not only showcases new technologies, equipment, and achievements of Chinese agricultural machinery, but also helps promote local agricultural mechanization and industrial transformation and upgrading in Pakistan, promoting research and development, application promotion, and exchange cooperation of agricultural machinery technology between China and Pakistan. Next, the Luban Workshop Agricultural Machinery Training Project in Pakistan will gradually expand the course content of intelligent agricultural machinery manufacturing and unmanned operation."
On December 5, 2018, witnessed by the leaders of both countries, the Portuguese Luban Workshop, jointly built by Tianjin Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Technology and Setubar Institute of Technology in Portugal, officially signed a contract and started operation, jointly cultivating talents in the fields of electrical automation and industrial robotics.

In the eyes of many Tianjin teachers, the Chinese side focuses on practical equipment installation, while the Portuguese side focuses on system debugging. So, the Luban Workshop set up a platform, and the Chinese side provided more than 10 sets of equipment, including modern electrical control systems, industrial robots, and intelligent vision systems, to complement the hardware and software of advanced technology education cooperation between China and Portugal.
"Here, I not only learned how to use various robots, visual devices, etc., but also developed an industrial communication research project." Alexander Geraldo, a student at Setubar Institute of Technology, has gained a lot from studying and training at the Luban Workshop in Portugal for more than three years.
