Libya enters a state of emergency and is hit by a storm
According to the website of Singapore's Lianhe Zaobao on September 11, storm "Daniel" swept the Mediterranean Sea and triggered floods in Libya, killing at least 150 people. The Libyan Red Crescent Society predicts that the death toll will rise to 250.
According to Reuters, Mohammed Masood, spokesman of the Libyan government in Benghazi, said on the 11th that at least 150 people had been killed by the floods and rainstorm caused by "Daniel" in Derna, Lvshan and Maierji suburbs of Libya. Various regions have suffered huge financial losses.
Daniel attacked eastern Libya on the 10th, with the Green Mountains and Benghazi being particularly severely affected. A rescue team has also been deployed in Delna, located approximately 900 kilometers east of the Libyan capital Tripoli. Reuters quoted witnesses as saying that the water level in Delna has reached a height of 3 meters.
According to the report, disaster relief work is still ongoing intensively, and the Libyan authorities have declared a state of extreme emergency, closed schools and shops, and implemented a curfew.
In addition, Daniel also attacked parts of Greece, Türkiye and Bulgaria in recent days, killing at least 27 people.
