Li Zaiming's 20 day hunger strike
On September 21st, the South Korean National Assembly held a plenary session, and with 149 votes in favor and 136 votes against, it approved a motion to arrest Lee Jae myung, a representative of the Democratic Party of Korea.
Since August 31st, Li Zaiming has been on a hunger strike. On the same day, he announced at a press conference for the first anniversary of his inauguration as the party leader in the South Korean National Assembly that he would prevent the ruling party's tyranny from destroying the democratic system and launch an indefinite hunger strike with a mentality of "leaving the country to its death". At that time, Li Zaoming was "full of firepower" to Yin Xiyue's government. In addition to the response to Japan's nuclear sewage after it was discharged into the sea, he also criticized a series of South Korean government governance issues, from rising prices, to shrinking foreign trade, to the ineffective handling of the Itaewon stampede accident.
According to his announcement, there are three main demands for his hunger strike: calling on South Korean President Yoon Seok yeol to apologize for "damaging people's livelihoods and democracy"; Oppose Japan's discharge of nuclear contaminated water into the ocean; Requesting a thorough reshuffle of the cabinet.
On September 9th, after persisting in a 10 day hunger strike, Li Zaiming went to the Suwon District Prosecutor's Office to accept an investigation into the North Korean remittance case. Conservative and progressive groups held a demonstration rally in front of the Suwon District Prosecutor's Office. Progressive supporters hold up slogans to impeach Yin Xiyue, while conservatives shout slogans to arrest Li Zaiming.
On September 18th, it was the 19th day of Li Zaiming's hunger strike. Around 7am, Li Zaiming developed symptoms such as dehydration and rapid drop in blood sugar, almost losing consciousness. He was sent to the nearby Ruyi Island Holy Mother Hospital for rescue, and later transferred to the Green Hospital located in Zhonglang District. A spokesperson for the Democratic Party of China said that Lee Jae ming is injecting physiological saline and his organs are severely damaged due to hunger strike. He has regained consciousness, but has not indicated that he will stop his hunger strike, which means he may continue his hunger strike in the hospital. Li Zaiming planned not to eat except for the most basic infusion. Although he has escaped danger, he is still in a weak and weak state.
On the same day, on the 18th, while Lee Jae ming was urgently sent to the hospital, the Seoul Central District Court in South Korea sent a request for consent to his detention to the Seoul Central District Prosecutor's Office. On the 18th, the Anti Corruption Investigation Department of the Central District Prosecutors Office in Seoul, South Korea, requested court approval for the arrest of Lee Jae ming on charges of dereliction of duty, bribery, and instigation of others to falsify evidence in violation of the Special Economic Crime Aggravation Punishment Law, the Special Crime Aggravation Punishment Law, and the Foreign Exchange Trading Law.
On the afternoon of September 19, former South Korean President Moon Jae-in went to the hospital to visit Lee Jae ming. Moon Jae-in clenches Li Zaiyin's hand and talks with him with a heavy face for more than 20 minutes. During this time, Li Zaiyin tries to get up, but Moon Jae-in stops him.
Moon Jae-in also advised Li Zaimeng to stop his hunger strike and said that he had also been on hunger strike for 10 days, which was very hard at that time. Now that Li Zaiming has been on a hunger strike for nearly 20 days, he has fully demonstrated his sincerity and determination. He urged Li Zaiming to pick himself up as soon as possible and re-enter the long-term battle with a new attitude.
On the same day, the South Korean prosecutor applied to the court for approval to arrest Lee Jae ming on suspicion of dereliction of duty, corruption, and bribery. On September 21st, the South Korean National Assembly approved the arrest of Lee Jae myung, the leader of the largest opposition party, the Democratic Party of Korea. Due to Li Zaiming being a current member of the National Assembly, he enjoys the privilege of not being arrested without the consent of the Congress during the session. The court's review of the necessity of arresting a member of the National Assembly must be approved by a vote of the Congress.
After the vote was passed, the leadership of the largest opposition party, the Common Democratic Party, collectively resigned in the House of Representatives. It is expected that the Common Democratic Party will soon begin the selection process for new representatives in the House.
