Li Qiang Meets with British Prime Minister Sunak
On the morning of September 10th local time, Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with British Prime Minister Sunak during his attendance at the G20 Leaders Summit in New Delhi.
Li Qiang stated that both China and the UK are major economies in the world, and their economies are intertwined with each other. The relationship between the two sides is becoming increasingly close, and we need to better benefit both countries and the world through a stable and mutually beneficial China UK relationship. China is willing to work together with the UK to uphold mutual respect, treat each other equally, objectively view each other's development, enhance understanding and mutual trust, and promote stable and far-reaching China UK relations.
Li Qiang pointed out that both sides should adhere to open cooperation and safeguard and expand common interests. Both China and the UK are advocates, practitioners, and beneficiaries of free trade. We should jointly oppose the politicization and security of economic and trade cooperation, promote the construction of an open world economy, maintain a multilateral trading system centered on the World Trade Organization, and ensure the stability and smoothness of global industrial and supply chains. Both sides should handle their differences properly, uphold the spirit of inclusiveness and mutual learning, and respect each other's core interests and major concerns. China welcomes the UK to continue expanding pragmatic cooperation with China and is willing to deepen cooperation with the UK in areas such as trade, investment, green development, cultural and technological exchanges, and jointly support and promote global sustainable development.
Sunak stated that the UK respects China's history and culture, and values China's important role in the international system. The UK is willing to engage in constructive and candid dialogue with China, strengthen practical cooperation in areas such as economy, trade, science and technology, properly handle differences, jointly address global challenges such as climate change, and build a stable and mutually beneficial UK China relationship.
