When pleading with the court, the defendant stated that they hoped the boy would receive education in Hong Kong, but the trust was not human. They now regret it and hope to be sentenced to a non custodial sentence so that they can return to their hometown to take care of the boy.
It is reported that the defendant has divorced, and the boy involved in the case was sent back to Nanchang, Jiangxi on August 21. He is currently being taken care of by his grandmother along with his younger brother.

The judge pointed out during the sentencing that even though Hong Kong has a relatively complete welfare and education system, taking care of children is always the responsibility of parents.
The judge believes that the defendant's request for the Hong Kong SAR government to take care of their child is very wrong. The judge considered that the defendant's imprisonment would have a negative impact on the care of their two children, so they were ultimately sentenced to 4 months in prison with a three-year probation.
