Laos delegation: Hangzhou Asian Games will promote unity and friendship in Asia
On September 16th, China Daily reported that the 19th Asian Games are about to open, and Chinese and foreign athletes are making final efforts for this largest comprehensive sports event in Asia, hoping to deepen their friendship with friends from afar while making breakthroughs.
According to reports, the current Asian Games will open in Hangzhou on September 23, with approximately 12500 athletes from 45 countries and regions participating. In the 15 day competition, athletes will compete for a total of 481 gold medals in 40 major events and 61 sub events.
World and Olympic champions will once again be ready to participate in the quadrennial sports event.
The first Malaysian athlete, Lises, who recently won a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics, will compete with the country's national diving team in Hangzhou.
Zhang Jinfa, the head of the delegation to the Hangzhou Asian Games in Malaysia, said, "Although the Chinese team has an advantage in these two water sports with its past achievements and reputation, I believe our divers and swimmers will fight until the end to win medals for Malaysia."
The Qatar team won two gold medals in men's handball at the 2014 Incheon Asian Games and the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games, and they hope to continue their winning streak at the Hangzhou Asian Games.
Qatari Olympic Committee Secretary General Jasim Bouain stated that he hopes the results achieved can reflect the development of Qatari sports and their outstanding presence at the intercontinental level.
Tengqiu is a popular traditional sports event in Southeast Asia and also a competition event at this year's Asian Games. Noum Souvannalith of the Lao national Tengqiu team said, "I look forward to winning a medal for the Lao people. We performed well and won a silver medal at the recent Jakarta Asian Games. This time, we will also give it our all."
Binmapa Kaewkamsai from the Thai women's wicker team said she also looks forward to competing for honors for her country at her first Asian Games. The 26 year old athlete said, "We will face opponents from countries with increasingly advanced technical skills, which may bring challenges." She added that her team is ready for the Asian Games.
The stage of this intercontinental comprehensive sports event is also an important opportunity to bring emotional distance closer.
"I believe that the Hangzhou Asian Games can unite Asian forces and play a positive role. The current Asian Games hosted by China will promote unity and friendship in Asia," said Chandai Phiathep, coach of the Lao national vine team.
