Japanese media: The US military will establish a space force stationed in Japan
According to Japanese media reports on the 15th, the commander of the US Space Force Indo Pacific Command announced in an interview that in order to address regional threats, the US military plans to establish a new force specifically responsible for space in Japan this year.
According to reports, this move aims to strengthen the capabilities of the US military stationed in Japan in the space field, expand cooperation with the Japanese Self Defense Force, and assist in real-time sharing of intelligence on North Korean missile launches being promoted by Japan, the United States, and South Korea.
It is reported that Yokota Base, where the US military headquarters is located, is an alternative base for the space forces stationed in Japan. The Space Force Indo Pacific Command is responsible for satellite communication, weapon system navigation, missile warning and other related tasks, and coordinates the land, sea, and air forces deployed in the area from space.
Anthony Mastaril, Commander of the US Space Force Indo Pacific Command, stated that the space force stationed in Japan will become a key focus for further strengthening its alliance with Japan.
