Japanese director Takeuchi Ryo: "I want to convey the real China to everyone."
On September 8, 2023, Takeuchi Ryo was awarded the "Friendly Ambassador Award" at the first Orchid Awards. Since arriving in China for the first time in 2001, this director from Chiba Prefecture, Japan has left footprints in more than 30 provinces and cities in China. When it comes to the reason for the shooting, he said that both the original intention and motivation are very simple.

First of all, I enjoy shooting and filming; Then my second one is that I like to take pictures of China, and I like to take pictures of Chinese people because the scenery in China is quite beautiful and Chinese people are quite fun. First of all, I like it, and then the third one is not satisfied. I am criticized by others, and then I feel not satisfied. Then I take photos, it's that simple.
"Isn't there a path for airplanes in the sky?" "How was a house over a hundred floors built?" This was the curiosity of a Tibetan girl named Tsm when she first met the Takeuchi Ryo team in 2011. In 2021, Takeuchi Ryo fulfilled his ten-year promise and traveled over 6300 kilometers along the Yangtze River in China. Having visited the Yangtze River twice, Takeuchi Ryo told reporters that the biggest change is not only in the ecological environment, but also in human thinking.

The most impressive change was still between Tom and Tom's sister. In terms of their marriage concept, ten years later, when they saw her again, her sister could freely fall in love, or even not get married. The change in environment is not as great as the change in human thinking, that is, the change in human thinking is the greatest.
Nowadays, Takeuchi Ryo has over 5 million followers on Chinese social media platforms. He and his wife Zhao Ping settled in Nanjing and founded a cultural dissemination company, hoping to use their works to break prejudice and introduce the charming cultures of China and Japan to each other.

Japanese young people's views on China have indeed changed, and my impression has also changed because I have been in Japan for the past three months just to shoot "Across Japan". I have felt that young people are more interested in Chinese culture now.
Speaking of the future, Takeuchi Ryo stated that he will continue filming to eliminate misunderstandings and convey the most authentic image of China to everyone.
Japanese director Ryo Takeuchi
Because I live in China, I know what the real China is like. And then I like China. When my favorite China is scolded by foreigners who don't understand it, I feel unhappy and unconvinced, so I want to convey the real China to everyone.
