"The case you mentioned, we have previously introduced the situation multiple times. This Japanese citizen is suspected of engaging in espionage activities, violating the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China and the Anti Espionage Law of the People's Republic of China, and has been subjected to criminal coercive measures by relevant Chinese departments in accordance with the law," Mao Ning explained.
She stated that China guarantees the legitimate rights and interests of the parties involved in accordance with the law, and provides convenience for Japanese consular visits in accordance with relevant international conventions and provisions of Sino Japanese consular agreements. China is a country under the rule of law, and all foreign nationals residing in or coming to China must abide by Chinese laws. Those who violate the law and commit crimes must be held accountable in accordance with the law. In recent years, similar cases have occurred frequently among Japanese citizens, and Japan should strengthen education and reminders for its own citizens.
