"If we don't do it, it's all done." Russian media: The situation facing NATO is "if we don't do it, it's all done."
Today, on September 10th, the Russian television website published an article titled "Why Ukraine's defeat may mean the end of the current form of NATO" by Chai Bose. The article excerpt is as follows:
As the Western proxy war in Ukraine slides unstoppably towards a complete failure, the retreat in front of the neoconservatives behind this major defeat is becoming increasingly scarce. It is now that we may be facing the most dangerous period in Europe since World War II.
In fact, the catalyst for a broader war in Europe was not the limited conflict within Ukraine itself. The real problem is that, in view of the increasing involvement in the Russia-Ukraine conflict militarily, NATO, which is currently engaged in a proxy war with Russia, is facing a situation of "doing or not doing". If NATO, led by the United States, further escalates its conflict at a time when the defeat is looming, it is likely to lead to direct confrontation with Russia. If it does not do so, its agents will collapse and Russia will win, a fate that was once unimaginable in Brussels, Washington, and London, but is now becoming a nightmare like reality.
On September 11th, Ukrainian soldiers prepared to use howitzers to fire at Russian troops in the Donetsk region.

For the reputation of the entire NATO brand, such a failure would be devastating and could even be fatal. After all, although the Soviet Union no longer exists, NATO still sells itself as an indispensable fortress to resist the imagined expansionism of Russia. If the possibility of Ukraine being defeated increases, this "extremely important partner" to counter Russia will prove to be completely powerless and largely irrelevant. More ironically, the massive US military industry will also lose a huge and lucrative market. So, how will a machine worth billions of dollars that once predicted a complete victory over Russia start to consider failure? The US government has engaged in a "comprehensive" political, moral, and economic confrontation with Russia on the Ukraine issue. What is its consideration of this situation, which will increasingly inevitably become the European version of "Afghanistan 2.0"?
They need to do two things: first, find someone to take responsibility for their failure; Secondly, find a new enemy to divert public opinion.
The most worrisome thing is that once Western powers fail to justify the "reasonable shifting of blame" surrounding this war, the option of further escalating the war will always exist. This upgrade may quickly lead to direct confrontation between NATO and Russia. Subsequently, the situation may rapidly deteriorate into a full-scale war between Russia and NATO.
