He sternly warned, "The door to hell has been opened."
According to the website of CNN, UN Secretary General Guterres issued a stern warning on the 20th when convening a high-level summit of world leaders on climate crisis: "Humanity has opened the door to hell."
He delivered a speech at the opening of the Climate Ambition Summit, saying, "Terrifying heatwaves are having terrible impacts. Disgusted farmers are watching their crops washed away by floods. The high temperatures are breeding diseases." The summit coincides with the high-level meeting week of the United Nations General Assembly.
"Compared to the scale of the challenge, climate action pales in comparison." He warned that if no change is made, humanity will "move towards a dangerous and turbulent world.".
On September 18th, at the United Nations headquarters in New York, UN Secretary General Guterres delivered a speech at the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Summit.

The report states that this one-day meeting was held as the world struggles against devastating floods and fires. Prior to the United Nations COP28 Climate Summit held in Dubai in December, the purpose of this meeting was to create global momentum to significantly reduce the pollution that causes global warming.
According to reports, Wednesday's summit was unusual as Guterres decided to limit the number of speaking countries. He believes that countries with clear and effective climate plans, as well as those preparing to send high-level officials to speak, will have the opportunity to speak. Out of nearly 200 countries attending the United Nations General Assembly in New York, only 34 countries and 7 non-governmental organizations were given the opportunity to speak at the summit.
Guterres said that the purpose of this summit is to strengthen the ambition for climate action.
In his speech on Wednesday, Guterres called on developed countries to achieve net zero emissions by 2040, which is at least 10 years ahead of most current commitments.
