A huge number of visitors challenged the network capacity of the venue on the day of the opening ceremony. How to ensure that up to tens of thousands of people can simultaneously surf 5G? Li Qianxing, the network and communication support manager of the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center Stadium, introduced that by creating a multi frequency, multi-mode, and ultra dense networking system, the "Big Lotus" communication support team will comprehensively solve the audience's "network anxiety".

It is reported that in the past, most large-scale network communication guarantees were mainly provided by 4G users. At this Asian Games, "Big Lotus" is facing a large-scale communication guarantee mainly for 5G users for the first time.

"In the face of higher communication security needs, we start with scheme planning, and the first thing we do is to sink the communication base stations that were originally about 30 to 50 meters away from the audience on the raceway at the top of the venue to a position 3 to 5 meters behind the audience seats. Each base station 'plays its own role' and improves signal coverage," said Li Qianxing.

At the same time as the location sinks, the density of the base station coverage within the "Big Lotus" also greatly increases. Li Qianxing introduced that China Mobile alone has significantly increased its number of locations from 78 to 134. Currently, there are a total of 250 communication base stations in the audience area, which can evenly cover all audience seats.

Moreover, these base stations are equipped with two communication frequency bands, 2.6GHz and 4.9GHz, which increase the communication capability of "dual frequency" by more than 50% compared to "single frequency". "The data centers of these two communication frequency bands are also independent of each other, and even if one frequency band experiences a sudden malfunction, the signal transmission of the other frequency band is not affected," said Li Qianxing.

After point encryption, interference between base stations will also increase. In order to solve the interference problem, the venue communication support team innovatively customized the indoor shaped antenna with the narrowest beam in the industry. "The coverage area of this antenna is adjustable, the signal coverage edge is clear, and it can focus on a relatively determined area. At the same time, we have adopted uplink interference suppression algorithm to improve the capacity of the uplink data channel, and the effect is currently very ideal." Li Qianxing introduced.

Event operation, news release, media office... Within the Big Lotus, up to 330 spaces have been separated according to different functional purposes. These spaces are different, some have a large area, some have thick walls, and each has its own difficulties for communication security.

"To ensure the communication needs of the internal space of the venue, we have added about 1000 small RF transmission stations, ensuring that each space has antennas entering the room, enhancing signal strength, and meeting the communication needs of numerous mobile phones in various rooms in terms of capacity." Li Qianxing introduced that the venue communication support team has designed corresponding support plans for each space to ensure "full coverage" of communication signals inside the venue.

In addition to ensuring a public network for audience communication, this event also built a dedicated network AGIS to ensure the operation of the event. "The overall route of the private network is completely physically independent, isolating external interference and ensuring exclusive use of resources. Each node is equipped with dual routing and dual upstream, creating a 'dual insurance' protection system. We are ready for the upcoming Asian Games," said Li Qianxing.
