Hangcheng Asian Games Guizi Liang
This autumn, Hangzhou is about to welcome the grand Asian Games. Friends from all over the world come to Hangzhou to enjoy autumn, and the rich fragrance of osmanthus blends with the passion of athletes for hard work.
The Hangzhou Sports Center, founded in 1966, is the venue for boxing events at the current Asian Games. Its unique saddle shaped roof is engraved in the memories of many old Hangzhou residents. Nowadays, the facilities inside the venue have been renovated, and the osmanthus flowers outside are in full bloom with a pleasant aroma.
These osmanthus trees are 40 to 50 years old and have grown here almost since the beginning of the construction of the gymnasium. Due to the needs of hosting the competition, while the venue has been renovated and upgraded, the surrounding environmental layout has also been adjusted. During the renovation period, the 34 osmanthus trees at the entrance were housed in the Hangzhou Football Sports Management Center at the foot of Daqi Mountain in Tonglu County, and were maintained by a professional greening company.
At the beginning of this year, the Hangzhou Sports Center project was completed and accepted, and the osmanthus tree, which had been separated for more than two years, gradually returned home and replanted in front of the sports center. Osmanthus fragrance, autumn has arrived on Stadium Road. Smelling the fragrance of flowers and experiencing the joy of sports is a unique experience in Hangzhou.
In the Asian Games Village, under a wooden structure building called "Yungui", many technical officials and media reporters are waiting for a shuttle bus. As a supporting facility for the Asian Games Village, "Yungui" will provide recreational services for residents. The term "Yun Gui" originates from the Tang poem "Gui Zi Yue Zhong Luo, Tian Xiang Yun Wai Piao". Looking down from the air, the designer ingeniously spliced the roof with a geometric structure resembling osmanthus petals, exuding a strong Hangzhou charm and expressing the enthusiastic anticipation of the hosting city for the grand event.
At the Asian Games, the medal winning athletes climb onto the podium and the award bouquet they receive is named "Abundant Fruits", with osmanthus branches as the flower material. The subsequent Hangzhou Asian Paralympic Games won a medal named "Guizi", derived from the famous phrase "searching for Guizi in the middle of the mountain temple", full of Jiangnan artistic conception and romantic colors. Upon closer inspection, the scattered osmanthus patterns on the medals blend the Liangzhu Jade Wall with the Hangzhou City Flower Osmanthus, symbolizing the athletes' pursuit of beauty and positive progress.
The fragrance of golden autumn osmanthus also adds a different kind of excitement to Hangzhou, which has entered the Asian Games time.
