As the highest standard, largest scale, and most influential international quality conference in China's quality field, the China Quality Conference was recently held in Chengdu. The theme of this conference is "Quality Change and Cooperation in Economic Recovery", inviting representatives from all parties to jointly discuss hot quality topics and cutting-edge content of quality management in the new situation. The "Quality Light - China Quality Management and Quality Innovation Achievement Exhibition" held parallel to the conference showcases a number of cutting-edge achievements in China's quality innovation from multiple dimensions. At present, quality plays a fundamental and strategic role in China's overall economic and social development, and the construction of a quality power has become an important support for Chinese path to modernization.

The construction of a quality strong country helps to accelerate the formation of a modern industrial system. The report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China pointed out that we must focus on the real economy, promote new industrialization, and accelerate the construction of manufacturing, quality, aerospace, transportation, internet, and digital China. The manufacturing industry can be regarded as the driving force of the real economy and an important indicator of a country's economic strength. In 2022, the added value of China's manufacturing industry accounted for nearly 30% of the world's total, and the scale of the manufacturing industry has ranked first in the world for 13 consecutive years. The position of a manufacturing power has become increasingly stable. To move from a manufacturing powerhouse to a manufacturing powerhouse, China must focus on resolving structural contradictions in its industrial system and comprehensively enhance the international competitiveness of Chinese manufacturing. Among them, solving quality problems is the main breakthrough point. We need to vigorously implement the industrial basic quality improvement project, coordinate the development of quality technology and industrial application, build a higher level of quality infrastructure, and improve the quality governance system. Through the construction of a quality strong country with Chinese characteristics, we will steadily advance the construction of a manufacturing strong country, boost the spirit of the modern industrial system, and build a solid material foundation for common prosperity.

The construction of a high-quality country is conducive to improving the quality of life of the people. In the development process of human society, every change and innovation in the field of quality has promoted the progress of production technology and enhanced people's well-being. In the stage of high-quality development, the pursuit of a better life by the people is constantly iterating and upgrading, gradually shifting from "having" and "not much" to "good or bad". The demand structure presents multi-dimensional, multi-level, and multi changing characteristics, and the transformation of quality governance must be adapted to it. From the perspective of consumer upgrading, China's brand influence is steadily increasing. The "2023 Global Brand Value 500 List" released by the international brand value evaluation agency "Brand Finance" shows that 79 Chinese brands have been shortlisted for the Global Brand Value 500, accounting for 17.9% of the total value. The total value of Chinese brands on the list has increased by 1190% compared to 2010. Extensive data and cases have shown that by implementing quality improvement actions, focusing on increasing variety, improving quality, and creating brands, we can discover and create new types of consumption needs on the basis of meeting the basic consumption needs of the people, allowing them to enjoy a richer material and spiritual life, continuously enhancing their sense of gain, happiness, and security, and promoting the coordinated development of material civilization and spiritual civilization.

The construction of a strong quality country is beneficial for the stability of global industrial and supply chains, ultimately benefiting global consumers. From the perspective of the relationship between the supply and demand sides, a country's innovation and industrial system must deeply interact with the international market in order to continuously improve the supply level under higher levels of demand incentives. Quality is precisely the bridge connecting the supply and demand sides. "Quality, trustworthiness" is an ancient Chinese concept of quality that still holds significant importance today. Excellent product, engineering, and service quality are the "passport" for Chinese enterprises to participate in global industrial division of labor and cooperation, and the prerequisite for promoting the smooth operation of international and domestic dual circulation. In the future, we need to enhance the modernization and internationalization level of quality governance, improve the internal skills of quality, and contribute to maintaining the stability of global production and supply patterns with high-quality products and services while ensuring the resilience and safety of our own industrial and supply chains.

In February of this year, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council issued the "Outline for Building a Quality Strong Country", which systematically deployed the guiding ideology, main goals, key tasks, and guarantee measures for building a quality strong country, providing action guidelines for promoting the construction of a quality strong country in the future period. Aiming at the goal of building a quality power, accelerating the implementation of various construction tasks, and building a more appropriate quality supply system, a higher level quality infrastructure system, and a more modern quality governance system, it is certain to continuously consolidate the quality foundation of Chinese path to modernization.
