Gold medal! The Second National Vocational Skills Competition for Students from Pudong University
At the second Vocational Skills Competition of the People's Republic of China held recently, Zeng Xiaojun, a 2020 undergraduate nursing student from Shanghai Health Medical College, won the gold medal in the health and social care project with outstanding performance. This is one of the 10 gold medals won by the Shanghai delegation in this competition, and the only gold medal won by Pudong students.
The Vocational Skills Competition of the People's Republic of China is currently a comprehensive national vocational skills competition with the highest competition specifications, the most competition projects, the largest participation scale, the highest skill level, and the widest influence range in China. The theme of this competition is "Skills for Talent and Skills for the Country". It consists of two categories: World Competition Selection and National Competition Selection, with a total of 109 events. More than 4000 participants from 36 national delegations participated in Tianjin.

Zeng Xiao'an represented Shanghai in the selection project of the World Skills Competition - Health and Social Care, competing on stage with 32 athletes from 32 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities across the country. This project adopts a single player competition mode, using provided case descriptions and relevant materials, and utilizing existing resources, with the cooperation of standardized patients, to complete the care of 6 case patients in 4 modules of hospital, home, day, and long-term care.
During the three-day competition, Zeng Xiaojun communicated with patients in English throughout the entire process, accurately evaluating patients, listening to their voices, inspiring them to participate in health care, and providing professional knowledge and skills to help patients. Her fluent English expression, gentle professional ethics, and exquisite professional skills have won applause from the audience both on and off the field, as well as unanimous praise from experts and referees.

At the second Vocational Skills Competition of the People's Republic of China, teachers from Shanghai Health Medical College also appeared. Ms. Lin Xiuyi from the School of Nursing and Health Management and Ms. Chen Huiqin from the affiliated health school represented Shanghai in the national competition - Health Care Project Competition, and both won the Excellence Award.
Shanghai Medical College of Health has strong competitiveness in the "Health and Social Care" project. Teacher Wu Yixin from the school represented China in the 2022 World Skills Competition special competition "Health and Social Care" project and won a bronze medal, achieving China's breakthrough of zero medals in this project. This time, the school won one gold medal and two excellence awards at the second Vocational Skills Competition of the People's Republic of China, which also relies on the full support and unity of the relevant colleges and professional teams of the school. Coaches, players, and support teams abandon holidays and summer breaks, constantly practice and polish around competition cases, repeatedly simulate assessments, overcome numerous difficulties, and help contestants achieve excellent results.
