Former Brazilian President's Accompanying Military Officer: Helped Bosonaro sell luxury watches gifted by foreign countries
Recently, former Brazilian President Bosonaro's entourage told Brazilian police that he helped Bosonaro sell two luxury watches he received as official gifts and paid tens of thousands of dollars to him.
Colonel Mauro West was a military attach é during Bosonaro's presidency from 2019 to 2023. After reaching a plea agreement with the police, he was released on September 16 and had been detained for four months.
The plea agreement requires West Germany to provide information related to a series of suspected criminal activities during Bosonaro's presidency, including suspected coups and embezzlement of expensive foreign gifts.
Shortly before his release, West Germany issued a statement to Brazilian federal investigators admitting to selling diamond studded Rolex and Patek Philippe watches on behalf of Bosonaro. These watches were gifts from Saudi Arabia and Bahrain to Bosonaro, and West Germany sold them at a shopping center in Pennsylvania, USA.
"Is this sales behavior unethical? Perhaps. But we don't consider it illegal." West Germany told investigators that Bosonaro sold these watches out of concern about his personal financial situation. "The president is concerned about his financial situation."
It is reported that these two watches are sold for $68000. This money was first deposited into the bank account of West German father and Brazilian Army General Moro Lorena West in the United States, and then requested by West Germany and handed over to Bosonaro in cash.
